It didn’t take long for the Springfield Cardinals to jump on the Arkansas Travelers Thursday. Only four batters to be exact.

Cleanup hitter Juan Richardson reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Reid Gorecki. That was the first of two runs the Cardinals scored in the opening inning.

It was also the first of five runs Richardson drove in for the game to go along with a home run to lead Springfield to a 10-2 win over the Travelers.

Richardson’s three-run homer in the eighth put the icing on the cake for the Cardinals second win in a row. He also extended his hitting streak to 13 games.

Gorecki had two hits, scored three times, and had an RBI.

Springfield starter Mike Parisi got the win giving up two runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

The Cards are 23-15 and two games up in the Texas League North standings.
