Hughes Doesn’t Play, As Cavs Move Closer To Conference Finals

May 18, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

St. Louis native Larry Hughes did not play on Wednesday, as his Cleveland Cavaliers topped the Detroit Pistons 86-84 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Hughes has been mourning the loss of his brother, Justin Hughes, who died last week. He hasn’t played since Game 1 of the series.

Justin Hughes, 20, battled a lifelong battle with heart troubles and died last week. He had a heart transplant in 1997, but his body began rejecting the heart last year.

There is still no word on when Hughes will be back in the lineup for the Cavaliers. He also missed 45 regular season games with a finger injury. The Cavaliers can finish off the two-time defending Eastern Conference champions on Friday, as the series moves back to Cleveland.
