Social Services Department Maintains its Records are Almost Mistake Free

May 17, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Social Services Department says better than 99 percent of its child support enforcement system records contain no mistakes. The Department has made a quick survey after a man killed four people and himself last month. Investigators say the man was upset because a mistake by the state forced him to pay more than five times as much child support each month more than he was supposed to pay. The Department’s findings are based on a check of 396 cases out of more than 88,000 cases in the St. Louis region. The State Auditor says she has doubts about the adequacy of the research and wants to do her own audit.
