The Springfield Cardinals are winning just like their Major League affiliate.

Friday, the minor league club beat Wichita 5-1 to extend its current winning streak to five games. Juan Richardson homered for the third time this year and drove in two runs.

Cardinals starter Stuart Pomeranz was brilliant on the mound pitching 6 2/3 scoreless innings. He improves his record to a perfect 4-0.

Wichita came into the game with a three game winning streak of its own. Ryan Snare got tagged with the loss. He pitched six innings giving up five runs on eight hits.

Springfield stands atop the Texas League North standings by 4.5 games over Tulsa with a 21-11 record.
