Drury Men And Women Advance At D-II Tennis Championships In KC

The NCAA Division II Tennis Championships got underway at Homestead Country Club in Kansas City on Wednesday. 16 teams men’s and women’s squads are vying for national titles.

Drury University of Springfield, Missouri, is ranked number one in the men’s rankings and remained perfect on the season with a 5-0 win over Northwest Missouri St. The Bearcats end their season with a record of 13-10, while the Panthers improved to 25-0. Drury will face Valdosta St., which beat South Carolina Upstate 5-4 to improve to 23-1.

The Drury women also advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Northwest Missouri St., winning 5-2. DU, which has never made it this far, will take on defending national champion Armstrong Atlantic St.. They are a perfect 28-0 this season. Northwest Missouri St., ended their season with a 21-3 mark.

Missouri Southern was also knocked out of the tournament with a 5-0 loss to Northwood. The Lions finished 13-8 on the season.
