The Springfield Cardinals beat the San Antonio Missions 4-2 Monday.

The game was tied 2-2 going into the eighth inning. Cardinal’s reliever Rich Scalamandre shut down the Missions in the top half of the inning. The bottom half, however, came with a big bang. Juan Richardson blasted a two run homer, his second of the year, to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead.

It was all Mark Worrell Jr. needed to close out the game and get his ninth save of the season.

Jordan Pals started the game for the Cardinals. He gave up two runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. He left with the game tied and was not able to factor into the decision. Scalamandre got the win pitching a perfect 1 1/3 innings.

Richardson also doubled in the game and scored two runs.

The Cardinals are riding a three game winning streak. They are 19-11 and still atop the Texas League North standings by 2.5 games.
