Former St. Louis Browns baseball player Jim Delsing has died. He played ten seasons in the Major Leagues for the Browns, the White Sox, the Yankees, and the Tigers. But he is best-remembered for one game with the Browns on August 19th, 1951, when he was a pinch runner. Delsing went into the game to run for Eddie Gaedel, who had walked. Gaedel was the midget that the Browns’ owner sent up to bat as a publicity stunt. Delsing was 80. He lived in Chesterfield.
