KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

PICKS

20th (1st round)
54th (2nd round)
85th (3rd round)
154th (5th round)
186th (from Dallas, 6th round)
190th (6th round)
228th (7th round)

Pressing Concerns

Cornerback—Gone are Eric Warfield and Dexter McCleon. There should be cornerbacks available at the 20th pick, should the Chiefs go that route in the first round. Possibilities: Ty Hill (Clemson), Jimmy Williams (Va. Tech), Antonio Cromartie (Florida St.), Jonathan Joseph (South Carolina), Richard Marshall (Fresno St.)

Wide Receiver—Not a deep pool of receivers this year, so top names like Chad Jackson (Florida), Santonio Holmes (Ohio St.) and Sinorice Moss (Miami) may be gone by the 20th pick, so the Chiefs may opt for a diamond in the rough in the later rounds.

The Chiefs have an aging line and an aging quarterback and those positions will likely be addressed. Given Herm Edwards’ love of defense, a defensive lineman could draw interest early on. Also, the Priest Holmes situation will certainly play a part in their interest in a running back.

Pressing Concerns

Will the Rams go with a tight end or a safety with their first pick? That seems to be a big question for the team.

Tight end—The Rams have been disappointed with the production of Brandon Manumaleuna and may use their first pick to grab a tight end. The one they’d like to land is Vernon Davis (Maryland), but there is a chance he might not be available at the 11th pick. If not, other options include Joel Klopfenstein (Colorado) or Marcedes Lewis (UCLA).

Safety—The Rams have one proven safety in Corey Chavous, who they acquired via free agency from the Vikings. The Rams would love nothing more than to see Michael Huff (Texas) still on the board at the 11th pick. Chances are likely that he’ll be gone by then. Other options for a safety in the first round include: Donte Whitner (Ohio St.), Jason Allen (Tennessee) and Darnell Bing (USC).

Other areas of concern for the Rams include defensive line and offensive line. The Rams, who had the 23rd worst defense in the NFL last year, addressed defense this off-season. Along with Chavous, they also signed veterans La’Roi Glover (DL) Will Witherspoon (LB), Fakhir Brown (CB).
