The Senate has given final approval to legislation cracking down on illegal immigration. Among other things, the bill put forward by Senator Bill Alter of High Ridge would deny public assistance to illegals. It would also make it tougher to hire illegals and to have the illegals attend state colleges or universities. Alter says his legislation basically enforces existing federal laws at the state level. The legislation has now moved to the House. The bill is SB 1250.
