After allowing a sacrifice RBI to Alex Gordon in the first inning, Springfield Cardinals starter Jordan Pals settled down and led the Cardinals to a 3-1 home win over Wichita. Pals lasted 5 2/3 innings, giving up that one run along with four hits and four walks to get his first win of the season.

Relievers Rich Scalamandre, Andy Cavazos and Mark Worrell held the Wranglers hitless over the last 3 1/3 innings to secure the win. Worrell got his third save of the season.

Nick Stavinoha doubled in Mike McCoy in the third inning to tie the score at 1-1. In the fifth, McCoy broke the tie with a single to score Iker Franco from second base—Franco led off the inning with a double. Later in the inning Rico Washington tripled to score McCoy.

With the win, the Cardinals are now 7-4 and tied with Tulsa for the lead in the Texas League North.
