Missourian Finishes 23rd At Boston Marathon

Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya won the second Boston Marathon of his career and did so in record-breaking fashion on Monday. He ran the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours, 7 minutes and 14 seconds, beating the old record by one second. Fellow Kenyan Rita Jeptoo was the fastest woman, crossing the finish line in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 52 seconds.

There were a total of 130 Missourians in the field and Kansas City’s Jonathan Little, who is 24, finished in 23rd place with a time of 2:23:17. The fastest Missouri woman was 48-year old Becky Lowrance of Branson, who had a time of 3:13:57.
