Southeast Missouri Communities Attempting to Rebound From Tornado

April 9, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Residents of the two small Bootheel communities of Caruthersville and Braggadocia are doing what they can to try and restore basic services, a week after a deadly F-3 tornado literally ripped these towns apart. While they are making progress on the short-term recovery, long-term fixes are a little more in doubt. Governor Matt Blunt says a lot of the area was in rough shape before the storms rolled through. He says residents can see the storm as an opportunity to rebuild things to what they really needed to be. Some local officials worry all the damage will drive people out of the area.
