Immigration Bill Dead in Senate

April 7, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The effort in the U.S. Senate to produce an immigration reform bill has effectively been killed. The main bill before lawmakers would have granted what Senator Jim Talent believes amounted to an amnesty for lawbreakers, and he was not about to support it. Lawmakers have left Washington for their Spring break. Talent believes that when they return to the Nation’s Capitol in about two weeks, lawmakers will be able to focus on legislation that would strengthen border security. He says the first step in that security effort will be plugging the holes along our borders.
