A homeowner who confronts a burglar could shoot him under a bill winning tentative approval in the House. The bill makes three changes to current law: It creates a presumption that someone who breaks into a home intends to harm the occupants, it removes the current requirement that the occupants flee their home when someone breaks in, and it holds harmless a homeowner who shoots the intruder. Another positive vote sends the bill to the Senate.
