Missouri’s Agriculture Director says technology made United States agriculture dominant in the world and will pave the way for its future. Agriculture Director Fred Ferrell says the Missouri Governor’s Advisory Council on Agriculture will push agriculture business development as the key to rural economic development. Ferrell says farmers and those who live in rural Missouri must look beyond raising crops and selling livestock. Ferrell says traditional farming can’t provide the cash flow today’s agriculture needs. Ferrell notes technology pushed crop yields further than previously thought and technology will shift the business of agriculture to more profitable sectors. He says university research and government cooperation is vital in making it happen.
