The Democratic contender to replace Claire McCaskill as State Auditor isn’t well known outside Buchanan County, where she has spent five years as the County Auditor, but Susan Montee is out to change that. Montee, a certified public accountant and an attorney, says Missourians will learn that she is qualified to hold the post of State Auditor while her Republican opponents lack those qualifications. There are four Republicans in the race for State Auditor – Senator John Loudon of Chesterfield, Representative Jack Jackson of Wildwood, Representative Mark Wright of Springfield, and Al Hansen of Concordia – who represented the GOP against McCaskill in 2002. McCaskill is running for incumbent Republican Jim Talent’s U.S. Senate seat.
