The Kansas City Chiefs received a phone call from displaced wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Johnson, who was released by the Cowboys to make room for Terrell Owens, contacted Chiefs President/GM Carl Peterson telling him that he wanted to play for the team. However, Peterson said that they’re going to wait on a decision concerning offense until they address some of their holes on defense.

Johnson is 32 years old and had a revival in two seasons in Dallas, where he averaged 70.5 receptions, 910 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2004 and 2005.

Yesterday, the Chiefs defensive end Ryan Denney, who had 28 tackles and four sacks last season.

After 11 seasons with the only team he’s ever known, two-time Pro Bowl fullback Tony Richardson left the Kansas City Chiefs to accept a two year, $2.5 million offer with the Vikings. The Chiefs only fullback who has any NFL experience is Ronnie Cruz, who was a special teams player last season.
