State Wants More Federal Disaster Aid in Wake of Tornadoes

March 21, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

State officials want President Bush to add 35 counties to the federal disaster declaration the state received in the wake of the tornadoes that stormed through the Missouri. Forecasters now say at least 37 tornadoes struck throughout Missouri Saturday through Monday. They killed 10 Missourians and damaged or destroyed 1,500 homes and businesses. The President declared nine counties disaster areas and made seven eligible for federal assistance to repair public works.
