The tornado and severe storms that ripped through southwest Missouri a week and a half ago did more extensive damage to the Springfield power plant than first thought. Officials with City Utilities of Springfield say damage to the coal-fired power plant could total as much as three-quarters of a million dollars. State and federal emergency management officials are assessing the damage at the James River Power Plant to see if federal assistance might be made available to repair it.
