American Italian Pasta Company of Kansas City has stepped back from the brink of bankruptcy with a new loan arrangement package from its lenders. American Italian is the country’s biggest pasta maker. Its products are marketed under several names. The new loan arrangement totals $295-million. American Italian pasta has been suffering from two issues, the low-carb diet craze and a Securities and Exchange Commission investigaiton. Since August, company stock value has dropped about 75%.
