A crushing defeat ended the season for the Drury women’s basketball team at the NCAA Division II Tournament in Springfield Monday. The Lady Panthers fell 91-76 to Grand Valley St. in a Sweet 16 contest.
Grand Valley St. controlled the game, building a lead as large as 24 points before Drury mounted what could have been an almost unbelievable comeback. DU was able to cut that huge lead down to five points, but the Lakers were perfect from the line over the final 5:09 of the game, hitting 18-of-18 free throws.
Drury finished the season with a record of 30-3.
