Lee’s Summit West High School didn’t even exist until 2004, but in March of 2006, it finds itself just one win shy of a Class 4 girls basketball championship. The Titans used a 22-9 advantage in the fourth quarter to beat Duchesne 66-45 in the semifinals Friday.

LSW had a 24-22 advantage at the half and pushed that lead to eight points by the time the third period expired. Duchesne, which was making its fourth appearance in the MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown since 2001, shot just 29.6 percent in the second half, while Lee’s Summit West hit 61.9 percent.

The Titans were led by Bri Scott, who scored 17 and Kierra Powell was right behind her with 16. Duchesne’s leading was Erica Sams, who put in 16 points.

Lee’s Summit West, which improved to 22-8, will face defending champion Ozark for the title on Saturday. Duchesne ended its season with a record of 17-13.
