Some think the semifinal game between St. Francis Borgia and Lincoln Prep Academy could have served as the Class 4 boys’ championship. The two teams entered the game with identical 28-1 records. It also featured to two explosive scorers: Alex Moosmann of Borgia (23. ppg) and Domonique Johnson on Lincoln (20 ppg). In the end Moosman scored more than Johnson and Borgia scored more than Lincoln in a 73-62 decision for the Crusaders.

Moosmann scored 26 points, while Johnson countered with 21. Borgia held a slim 30-29 advantage at the half, but a push in the third quarter put them up for good. Moosman opened up the scoring in the second half with a three pointer to give the Crusaders a 33-29 lead. He finished 4-of-9 from the arc on Friday.

Prep continued to push and got as close as two points midway trough the fourth quarter, when Greg Smith scored to cut Borgia’s lead to 55-53. Domonique Johnson’s free throw with 3:13 remaining again cut the Crusaders’ lead to two, 58-56. Borgia responded with a 15-6 run to finish out the game.

Paul Eckerle offered tremendous support for Moosman, with 21 points of his own. Greg Smith scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Lincoln, which ended its season with a record of 28-2.

Borgia improved to 29-1 and will face Sikeston for the Class 4 championship.
