Senate Gives Final Approval to Child Sexual Predator Bill

March 9, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Senate has given final approval to legislation cracking down on child sex offenders. The bill, sponsored by Senator Matt Bartle of Lee’s Summit, calls for minimum 25 year prison sentences for those convicted of forcible sex or sodomy with a child. And, the offender would be subject to lifetime monitoring through use of an electronic ankle bracelet. Bartle acknowledges this might cost the state some money – but says it’s well worth the cost. Having cleared the Senate, the bill now goes to the House.
