The Senate Education Committee is considering what some are calling the 66 percent proposal education bill – legislation that would call on school districts to aim for a goal of putting two-thirds of expenditures into classroom instruction. The sponsor, Senator Rob Mayer of Dexter, says a lot more money is now going into schools, so it only makes sense to spend that money in the right place – the classroom. If the bill makes it through the Legislature, Missourians would get the chance to vote on the idea.
