Emporia State scored the first upset at the MIAA Tournament on Friday. The sixth-seeded Hornets beat No. 3 seed Truman State 96-90 for their first ever MIAA Tournament win. Emporia State will face No. 2 seed Central Missouri State in Saturday’s semifinal round. The Mules edged past Missouri Southern 64-61. Michael Hicks led CMSU with 19 points. The other men’s semifinal will feature top-seed Southwest Baptist and No. 4 seed Northwest Missouri State. Southwest Baptist beat Pittsburg State 67-52 on Friday, while the Bearcats cruised to a 72-49 win over Missouri Western.
