Major Fraud Case Referred to Feds

February 27, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

State officials have referred to the federal prosecutor a case in which they allege one person ripped off governmental social programs of more than $600,000. State Social Services Department spokesman Deborah Scott says this is one of the biggest fraud cases the state has ever encountered. One person is being accused of defrauding several state and federal social programs. The state got help from the federal government in investigating the case. The state alleges the person received benefits from the Medicaid and Food Stamp programs as well as other social programs that the individual wasn’t entitled to.
