Southeast Missouri St. ended a long, ugly skid by topping Samford 63-52 at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau on Thursday night. The Redhawks victory snapped a 12-game losing streak that dated back to January 7, when they lost 81-68 to Murray St.

Only five players on SEMO’s squad scored, but two of them put in some big numbers. Roy Booker scored 21 points to lead the team in scoring but didn’t have a great shooting night, hitting 8-of-25 shots on the night. He was also 2-of-9 from the three point arc. Terrick Willoughby provided a more statistically sound performance, with 20 points and a 6-of-10 showing from the floor. He hit 5-of-8 three’s and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Willoughby also dished out five assists.

Samford was led by J. Robert Merritt, who had 19.

With the win, the Redhawks improved to 7-19 on the season and 4-15 in the OVC.
