The Governor has signed into law the bill limiting protests at funerals. In this case, the Governor is Senate President Pro-Tem Michael Gibbons, who is the Acting Governor while Governor Matt Blunt and Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder are out of state for the weekend. The signing was done without ceremony. Gibbons says Governor Blunt will hold a signing re-creation ceremony after he gets back. Gibbons says he’s honored that Governor Blunt has trusted him to serve as Acting Governor without limiting what he can do while he has the powers of the governorship. Kinder will return Monday afternoon, so Gibbons can go back to being a Senator again.
