Lawmakers on the Joint Committee on Tourism have been given an upbeat annual report on the state of tourism in Missouri. State Tourism Director John Robinson told the committee that the tourism industry is stronger than ever. Robinson pointed out that every tax dollar spent on tourism returns 55 dollars to the economy, and $2.80 in taxes directly back to Missouri. He says his department is about to launch an effort to highlight that this state was the real start of the Civil War with the skirmishes between Kansas and Missouri in the 1850s.
