Attorney General Jay Nixon is launching legal action against the directors of the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority – MOHELA – over the proposal to sell a significant number of MOHELA assets. The suit alleges the directors committed multiple violations of the Missouri Open Meetings and Records Law – the Sunshine Law – over a period from January 20th to January 31st. Nixon alleges the proposed sale of the assets was developed with no public meetings and no public discussion, leaving citizens with no opportunity to learn about the transaction, let alone voice their concerns.
