Brigade Drops Sell-Out Home Opener

Despite a sell-out crowd of more than 16,000 at Kemper Arena, the Kansas City Brigade lost their first-ever Arena Football League home opener in a 37-33 battle with the Austin Wranglers. Trailing 37-33 with 20.3 seconds to go in the game and were able to drive to the two-yard line, but couldn’t get into the end zone.

The Brigade’s last lead in the game came in the fourth quarter, when Austin scored on a 14-yard touchdown reception by Sedrick Robinson. The touchdown tied the game at 30-30 and the extra point gave Austin the lead.

Brigade quarterback Andy Kelly was 21-37 passing with 217 yards and three TD’s. His favorite target was Jerel Meyers, who caught the ball 10 times for 116 yards and two scores.

The Brigade is 0-3 on the season.
