Perhaps Motown is the right fit for Mike Martz. The former Rams head coach has decided to take the Lions’ offensive coordinator position, after all. He agreed to the take the job yesterday.

Earlier this month, the job was offered to Martz and he accepted, then backed out that same week citing an inability to reach a financial agreement. It was believed that Martz wanted around $1.5 million per year. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has sources who believe Martz is getting $2.5 million for his three-year contract. He and first-year head coach Rod Marinelli’s will have some work to do—the Lions were 27th in total offense in 2005 and went 5-11.

Martz spent six years as the Rams head coach before being fired after the end of the 2005 season.
