The floor at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield has been taken up and a brand new floor is being put down and should be ready by Thursday. The old floor was installed 21 years ago. The new surface is expected to provide more cushion for the players and is similar to floors being installed in NBA arenas.

While it has definite advantages, another reason for the new floor is so the old one can be moved to the practice facility, which is expected to give the basketball programs and volleyball program better training possibilities. The $120,000 price tag for the new floor was paid for by Bill and Joe Turner of Springfield. The Turners are big boosters of the Missouri St. athletic programs.
