Despite published reports to the contrary, former Rams head coach Mike Martz will not become the next offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. Martz told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Thursday that he and the team couldn’t agree on contract terms. On Tuesday he had accepted the job in principle. According to the newspaper, Martz wanted at least $1.5 million to take the job.

Martz has been quite busy making news since his firing by the Rams last month. Since then, he’s interviewed with the Saints, a team who he had a verbal feud with a few years ago, about their head coaching vacancy. Then he interviewed for the Raiders head coaching job and pulled his name out of contention.
