Roy Blunt Loses Bid to Become U.S. House Majority Leader

February 2, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt’s bid to become the Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives falls short as he loses to Ohio Congressman John Boehner. Two ballots were held. In the first, a three-way race, Blunt had 110 of the 117 votes needed to elect. Blunt ended up with 109 votes in the second ballot. He remains the Majority Whip in the House. Blunt had been the Acting Majority Leader following the resignation of embattled Congressman Tom DeLay.
