For the first time since 2001, the Missouri women’s basketball team has swept Kansas St. in the regular season. They secured the sweep with an exciting 66-65 overtime win in Manhattan.

Tiger senior LaToya Bond’s bucket with 3.6 seconds to go in OT gave MU the lead and eventual win. Bond led four Tigers in double-digit scoring with 21 on the night. She also had six rebounds and six assists. Christelle N’Garsanet had 16 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and had five assists. Carlynn Savant scored 13 and EeTisha Riddle added 10.

Getting the game to overtime, let alone winning, seemed improbable early on for MU. At one point in the first half, MU trailed 32-10 and trailed 35-16 at the half. In the second half, MU hit 18-of-31 of their shots for a 58.1 percent clip, while holding the Wildcats to 37.5 percent in the second half.

The Tigers trailed 45-27 with 14:49 to go in the game and went on a 30-12 run to force OT.

The Tigers improved to 18-4 on the season and 6-2 in the Big 12. They’re all by themselves in second place in conference play, two games behind first place Oklahoma. K-State fell to 15-4 and 5-4.
