MSU Men Get Lopsided Road Win

January 30, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri St. Bears grabbed an 80-58 win over Indiana St. in Terre Haute on Sunday to snap a two-game losing skid. The Bears applied heavy defensive pressure, holding the Sycamores to just 7-of-24 shooting in the first half to help bolster a 31-20 lead at the half. ISU made just three field goals in the first 13 minutes of the game.

In the second half, the Bears were virtually unstoppable on offense, hitting 70.4 percent (19-of-27) of their shots over the final 20 minutes. Blake Ahearn led four Bears in double figure scoring with 13 points. Shane Laurie and Dale Lamberth had 12 apiece, while Deke Thompson added 11 to go with his team-high five assists. Kellen Easley, Tyler Chaney and Sky Frasier all scored eight points apiece in the win.

With the victory, MSU improved to 13-6 on the season and 6-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Indiana St., which started the season 8-0 (that included a win over Indiana), has now dropped 11 straight to fall to 8-11 overall and 1-10 in the MVC.
