Settlement Reached in Joplin Popcorn Suit

January 25, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

A Joplin couple that won a $20-Million dollar judgment against makers of a popcorn flavoring have settled the case out of court instead of waiting for the company’s appeals of the verdict to work its way through the system. The amount they’ll get is a secret. The company is appealing other jury verdicts against it in the cases. A doctor had testified that Eric Peoples would eventually need to have both of his lungs replaced because of damage from inhaling the flavoring chemicals used at the Jasper Popcorn Company. Flavors and Fragrances Incorporated continues appealing three other jury awards totalling almost $33-Million.
