Chief Justice Asks for More Money for Courts

January 25, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

State Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Wolff asks the Legislature for more money, telling a joint session of the General Assembly that a lack of resources is driving people from judicial services. Wolff says recent budget restrictions have cost the state deputy clerks. In his State of the Judiciary speech, Wolff says the Governor’s proposed four percent pay raise for state employees should help retain deputy clerks. He wants the pay hike extended to judges, telling lawmakers poor pay has cost the state good judges and chased many away from considering the profession.[AUDIO: State of the Judiciary Address – 27 min MP3]
