State Disappointed With Ford Hazelwood Announcement

January 23, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The announcement that had been expected is made – the Ford Motor Company is shutting down more than a dozen plants, including its assembly plant in Hazelwood in St. Louis County. Economic Development Director Greg Steinhoff says that while the announcement is disappointing, there is some good news for the Hazelwood workers in that they will have paychecks until September of next year. Steinhoff says the state will be ready to help the out-of-work employees. In the interim, it will work to try to attract new Ford business to the soon to be shuttered Hazelwood facility. Steinhoff says an announcement on the closing date of Hazelwood can be expected in the next few weeks.
