Economic Development Chief Works for Ford Future in Hazelwood

January 23, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The decision by the Ford Motor Company to shut down St. Louis County’s Hazelwood plant and more than a dozen other facilities prompts state economic development officials to jump into action to try to convince Ford to come back once the company’s bottom line improves. Economic Development Director Greg Steinhoff says the state is ready to reach out to Ford to make a greater investment in Missouri – perhaps even at the soon-to-be shuttered Hazelwood plant. Steinhoff says there are plenty of skilled Ford workers from the Hazelwood facility who would make wonderful additions to a new and improved Hazelwood plant that could, in the future, make alternative-fuel vehicles.
