Former Speaker Gingrich Talks Healthcare Changes to State Lawmakers

January 18, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich visits the Missouri State Capitol to speak to lawmakers about healthcare choices. Gingrich, who now heads the Center for Health Transformation, has several suggestions for improving the delivery of healthcare services to Americans. He believes many people who lack health insurance should be given tax breaks to encourage them to buy it. Gingrich says a voucher system for the healthy poor might be part of the solution to the healthcare problem. Gingrich asks whether we are pleased with what we have and whether we want different results. He says real change will require new ideas and new actions, and he acknowledges governments delivering health care coverage to the poor might have to put aside more up front dollars in order to put off higher expenses down the road.
