A Republican Member of Congress from Missouri is not exactly shedding tears over the demise of his former Majority Leader. Northeast Missouri Congressman Kenny Hulshof is one Republican glad to see Texas Congressman Tom Delay out as Majority Leader in Congress. Hulshof is still upset about being removed from the Ethics Committee for that panel’s criticism of Delay back in 2004, and the ethics rules Delay pushed through that left the Ethics Committee inept. But Hulshof says Delay is finally doing the right thing in stepping aside as a Republican leader. He believes that action along with the rebuilding of the Ethics Committee is key to rebuilding citizens’ confidence in Congress. Hulshof admits the damage might be done and his fellow Republicans could pay the toll in next November’s election.
