Follow-Up to Budget Speech Features Orchestrated Talking Points

January 17, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Blunt Administration and minority Democrats want to make sure their messages abouit last week’s State of the State Address follow the right lines. Both sides have given their partisans “talking points.” The Administration talking points refer to the speech as “brilliant” and speak of the Governor’s courage – words that show up in one way or another in news releases from state departments. The Governor’s Communications Director, Spence Jackson, was asked if the Governor’s office had issued the Republican talking points, providing the proper praise. He says he has no knowledge of any orchestrated effort. House Democrat Leader Jeff Harris openly admits his side has its coordinated phrases. Both sides say they rely on trustworthy sources for their information – even if the information from the same trustworthy source is presented differently.
