MU Faces KU In Columbia

January 16, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri and Kansas basketball teams will meet for the 254th time tonight, as the two square off at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers won the last meeting, with a 72-68 in the regular season finale last year. Missouri is 92-161 all-time against Kansas and head coach Quin Snyder is 4-10 against the Jayhakws….3-3 vs. KU in Columbia.

This marks the first time since 1991 that the two teams have met without at least one of them being in the Top 25…that’s 32 games. MU enters the contest with a 9-5 record and a 2-1 mark in the Big 12, while KU enters with a 10-5 and 1-1 mark.

The Tigers suffered their first defeat of the Big 12 season and had a five-game winning streak snapped with a 74-71 loss to Colorado in Columbia Saturday. Colorado’s Chris Copeland hit a three-pointer with less than a second to go to break a 71-71 tie and give Mizzou the loss. Jimmy McKinney and Thomas Gardner had 22 apiece in the loss.

Kansas also dropped a home game on Saturday, when Kansas St. beat the 59-55 at Allen Field House.
