A new set of educational testing requirements has been approved by the State Board of Education. The new rules call for additional Missouri Assessment Program – or MAP – testing. Education Commissioner Kent King says the added testing should improve proficiency of more children in math and reading. The added reading and mathematics requirements will see students in grades 3 through 8 tested every year in both subjects. They will still be tested for math in the 10th grade and reading in the 11th grade. The changes take effect this Spring.
