January 12, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Saint Louis University had their chances, but couldn’t finish off 19th ranked George Washington in a 69-64 overtime road loss. The Billikens led by nine points early on in the second half when Danny Brown hit a layup with 17:15 to go in the game to put SLU on top 32-23.

But GWU started to take the game back and eventually led the Billikens 50-42 with 4:54 to go. SLU responded with a three-pointer from Brown and another trey from Kevin Lisch to cut the lead to it at 50-48. Tommie Liddell forced a steal and tied with game with a layup with 3:21 to go.

Liddell gave the Billikens the lead with a free throw and a three pointer from Lisch gave SLU a 54-51 advantage with 2:15 to go. Then it was the Colonial’s Omar Williams to play hero. He hit a free throw with 1:09 to go and made good on a layup with 22 seconds remaining to tie it at 54-54.

Brown had a chance to give the Billikens the win, but missed a three pointer at the end of regulation.

In overtime GWU took over. Danilo Pinnock hit two free throws eight seconds into OT and the Colonials never trailed again. Pinnock scored 19 points, to lead George Washington. Danny Brown led SLU with 23, which was a career-high.

This marks the third time this season that SLU has led a Top 25 team in the second half. They’ve lost all three games. The Billikens are now 7-7 overall and 1-1 in the Atlantic 10. George Washington is 11-1 and 2-0.
