The UMKC men’s basketball team topped Western Illinois 72-62 on Monday, to mark their 13th straight victory against the Leathernecks. Quinton Day led the way for the ‘Roos with 25 points on an 11-for-19 shooting night. He also hit 3-of-4 three pointers.

UMKC shot just 36.8 percent from the floor, but took advantage of 18 turnovers by WIU—the ‘Roos turned the ball over just six times.

Dee Ayuba added 19 points and 12 rebounds for UMKC, while Brent Stephens scored 13 and grabbed five boards. Tim Blackwell, who averages 11.8 points per game this season, sat on the bench with a hip pointer.

The win upped UMKC’s record to 7-7 on the season and 4-1 in the Mid-Continent Conference.
