The Blues were trampled by former head coach Joel Quenneville and the Colorado Avalanche 6-1 in Denver Monday night. It was Quenneville’s first meeting against St. Louis, since he was fired as the team’s head coach near the end of the 2003-2004 season.
Rookie Marek Svatos tallied his second hat trick of the season, with a goal in each period. Svatos has 25 goals on the season.
St. Louis’ only goal came at the 11:42 mark of the third, when Simon Gamache scored his third of the season. It cut Colorado’s lead to 4-1.
Blues rookie goaltender Bacashihua had 30 saves in the loss. He filled in for Curtis Sanford, who had the flu.
